Job summary

Headhunters seeks a refrigeration technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain refrigeration and beverage dispensing equipment across customer sites in Durban. You will perform preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Willingness to travel, strong communication, and the ability to work independently are essential. Requirements include a valid driver's license, a safe gas handling license, 1–2 years of refrigeration or technical experience, and

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Technical experience in refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, or a related technical field.
  • Previous driving and delivery experience.
  • 1–2 years' refrigeration or technical experience advantageous.
  • Non-negotiable – safe gas handling license and valid drivers license for 3 years or more.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and dispensing equipment.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically fit and willing to travel frequently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain refrigeration and beverage dispensing equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, sanitising, testing, and equipment inspections before dispatch.
  • Deliver, collect, install, remove, and transport refrigeration equipment, stock, glassware, and parcels safely to and from customer sites.
  • Complete daily job cards, delivery notes, service reports, and other operational documentation accurately.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and vehicle stock in good working order.
  • Assist with warehouse operations including receiving, dispatching, stock counts, scanning, inventory control, and housekeeping.
  • Load and unload equipment safely while adhering to company safety procedures.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor and request replacement stock, spare parts, and consumables when required.
  • Respond to customer service requests professionally and within agreed service levels.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through professional service delivery.
  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and company policies, including safe refrigerant handling procedures.
  • Assist with emergency breakdowns, overtime, and ad hoc operational duties as required by management.
  • Support operational efficiency by identifying recurring equipment faults and escalating technical issues where necessary.
