Job summary

Orica is seeking a Field Support Technician in Midrand, South Africa. You will provide onsite and remote technical support for surveying instruments, equipment, and digital solutions, travelling regularly to client sites to ensure safe operation and operational excellence.

You will conduct inspections, maintenance and calibrations, train users, and deliver product demonstrations while maintaining high safety and service standards in a dynamic, global mining environment.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification or practical experience in mechanical systems, mining, drilling or a related field.
• Experience using directional downhole and orientation tooling, survey equipment, mobile devices and computer-based systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to follow technical procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Clear written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to train and support users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• A valid driver's licence and passport, with the ability to meet customer, security, medical and site access requirements.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly and work at remote surface or underground sites when required.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote technical support, including installation, configuration, operation and troubleshooting of equipment and software.
• Conduct equipment inspections, performance checks, preventative maintenance and authorised repairs to ensure operational readiness.
• Perform equipment QA/QC activities, calibration checks and maintain a safe, organised workshop environment.
• Complete service reports, document technical findings and ensure customer enquiries are resolved efficiently and professionally.
• Extract, process and quality‑check survey data while supporting customers with approved workflows and technical guidance.
• Deliver product demonstrations and customer training, ensuring users understand the safe and effective operation of equipment, software and approved workflows.
