Key Responsibilities

• Perform installations of new refrigeration units and associated equipment according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems, including cleaning, calibration, and part replacement.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with refrigeration units, identifying root causes of malfunctions.
• Repair and replace faulty components, ensuring systems are restored to optimal working condition promptly.
• Respond to emergency service calls, providing on-site support and resolving critical issues to minimize client downtime.
• Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to guide installation and repair processes.
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, utilizing company-provided reporting tools.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients regarding system operation and maintenance best practices.
• Manage service vehicle inventory and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role, specifically with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment used for refrigeration system testing and repair.
• Excellent mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential for travel to client sites in and around Port Elizabeth .
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize service calls.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
• Formal training or certification in refrigeration and air conditioning (e.g., NTC, "Trade Test") is highly preferred.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
