Qualifications

• A National Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or Technician specializing in HVAC and/or industrial refrigeration systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressor technologies, and control systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.

Responsabilités

• Install, commission, and service HVAC and refrigeration equipment (chillers, AHUs, racks).
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on client sites.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints to guide installation and repair procedures.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and manufacturer specs.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients on system operations and maintenance.
• Maintain records of service calls, parts used, and actions taken.
• Manage service vehicle and spare parts inventory.

About the Role

Our client, a premier provider of specialized climate control and refrigeration solutions, is looking for a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join their established team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This vital role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC and industrial refrigeration systems for a diverse range of commercial and industrial clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably, minimizing downtime for our customers. Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and service a variety of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including chillers, air handling units, refrigeration racks, and associated control systems.

• Collaborate with the sales and support teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• A National Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or Technician specializing in HVAC and/or industrial refrigeration systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressor technologies, and control systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience with common diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel within the Durban area.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet client needs.
• F‑Gas certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
