Job summary

OneCart PTY in Durban is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team. Based in Durban, you will troubleshoot and service complex machinery for FMCG clients, with a focus on on-site support and timely issue resolution.

The role requires a trade-tested Millwright with electrical/instrumentation skills, Matric, and at least five years' experience. You must be willing to travel across KZN and participate in on-call duties every second week.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent NQF is required.
• Must be a trade tested Millwright with electrical/instrumentation expertise.
• Minimum 5 years of related field experience.
• Experience in FMCG sector is a MUST.
• Food and beverage experience is advantageous.
• Willing to work on-call every second week (7:30–17:30) including weekends.
• Strong independent work, initiative, and communication skills.
• Extensive travel across KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair complex machinery in a timely manner.
• Read manuals, diagrams and schematics.
• Run tests and provide recommendations.
• Install, commission and train on equipment.
• Write service reports and maintain records.
• Perform routine maintenance at site or workshop.
• Provide prompt customer support and exceed expectations.
• Respond to workshop breakdowns and arrange spares.
• Maintain safety standards and be part of standby team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Requirements:

• Matric or equivalent NQF.
• Must be a trade tested Millwright with strong electrical / Instrumentation.
• 5 years plus working experience within a related field.
• Experience in the FMCG sector a MUST!
• Experience within Food and Beverage would be an advantage.
• Must be available for on-call duty every second week, which may include Saturdays and Sundays (operational hours are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm).
• Must be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, manage multiple job cards, meet tight deadlines, be self-driven, computer literate, and have good communication skills.
• Extensive travel required to reach clients across KZN; this position is best described as that of a Field Service Technician (FST).

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting, repair of complex machinery in a professional / timely manner.
• Reading and understanding of manuals/blueprints/diagrams/mechanical schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Running trails/tests on equipment and interpreting the result into further recommendations.
• Undertaking installation/commissioning/training on equipment.
• Writing up reports based on findings/service on equipment.
• Performing routine maintenance on complex equipment at site or in the workshop.
• Prompt assistance/advise to customers with queries / breakdowns in an appropriate manner.
• Ensure customers' expectations are exceeded in respect to quality and service.
• Respond immediately to requests for workshop breakdowns to customers.
• Action customer services as per schedule.
• Analyse the cause of the problem.
• Arrange quotes for customers to authorise repairs.
• Ensure arranged and require spares to complete the job are available.
• Maintain safety standards both at in-house and at customers.
• Form part of the standby team.
