Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Technician for the Tembisa, Gauteng region to install, maintain and repair industrial machinery.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues, perform preventative maintenance, and train client staff while travelling to sites within the service area. The role demands strong problem‑solving skills, a valid driver's license, and a proactive work ethic.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Field Service Technician.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and set up new industrial equipment according to manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing on a range of industrial machinery to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, identifying root causes of equipment failures.
• Execute repairs efficiently and effectively, using appropriate tools and techniques to restore equipment functionality.
• Provide technical support and training to client operators and maintenance staff on equipment usage and basic troubleshooting.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably with industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and potentially hydraulic/pneumatic aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex machinery.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule, including occasional overtime and weekend work as needed.
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Willingness to travel within the **Tembisa, Gauteng** service area and surrounding regions.
• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Must be proactive, reliable, and have a strong work ethic.
