Job summary

pllp is seeking a Field Service Technical Assistant to support field operations, inspect HVAC/fire systems, and coordinate contractors across building services in Cape Town. The role emphasizes safety, accurate reporting, and after-hours readiness.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years in property maintenance with basic electrical/mechanical knowledge and a valid driver’s license. Strong communication and independence are key assets for this position.

Qualifications

• Matric required.
• Technical qualification in electrical, mechanical, or building services is a plus.
• 1–2 years' maintenance/technical experience.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and work independently.
• Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to participate in after-hours emergency call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems, fire systems, lifts, generators, and transformers.
• Identify faults, secure hazardous areas, and escalate critical issues promptly.
• Assist technicians with site access and maintain contractor attendance records.
• Maintain accurate compliance logs for equipment readings and inspections.
• Communicate with tenants regarding downtime, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
• Complete scheduled checks on HVAC units, fire systems, lifts, generators, and transformers.
• Respond to after-hours equipment alarms and critical failures as part of the emergency call-out roster.
• Complete technical and safety training modules as required.
