Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Operations Technician to install, maintain and repair oil and gas field equipment in the Bloemfontein area. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, safety discipline, and the ability to troubleshoot in challenging field environments.

You will perform routine checks, calibrate devices, log maintenance activities, and assist in installing new systems while adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4/5) in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as Field Technician or similar in Oil & Gas or industrial sector.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain necessary industry-specific certifications.
• Willingness to work irregular hours in physically demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and calibration of field equipment, including pumps, compressors, and pipelines.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
• Monitor operational parameters and respond to alarms and equipment malfunctions.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, equipment status, and parts inventory.
• Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
