Job summary

Omnia Group's BME Operations in Carolina, Mpumalanga, invites applications for a General Assistant. You will support truck operations, collect products at silos and assist the blasting team while ensuring adherence to safety, quality and SHEQ standards.

Requirements include Grade 12 with Mathematics, blasting assistant certificate (MQA), and relevant licenses (Code 08/B, where desired). Two years blasting assistant experience is preferred; a proactive, detail-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

Numerical skills important for measurements and calculations.
Attention to detail required for density, stemming, and equipment checks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed for teamwork.

Responsibilities

Re-fill the truck at loading points under supervision.
Assist the Truck Operator with pre-use inspections.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and housekeeping on site.
Perform site cleaning, silo areas and ablution facilities as instructed.
Carry out hole measurements and ensure correct depth with operator.
Assist in the charging process and ensure detonator safety.
Act as Spotter to guide Truck Operator in blasting area.
Take samples and ensure sample cups are available on the truck.
Assist with final densities and calibration of materials and tools.
Keep calibration equipment and area clean; assist maintenance like tyre changes.
