Job summary

Omnia Group in Northern Cape, Mamatwan, South Africa, seeks a Blaster to lead open-pit blasting operations. You will prepare and execute blasts in line with SHERQ requirements, ensuring safety and operational efficiency on site.

Minimum 2 years blasting experience and a valid Blasting Ticket are essential; Code B licence is preferred. You will work with blasting assistants and respond to on-site challenges, driving safe, productive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics completed.
• Code 08/Code B driving licence.
• Blasting Ticket or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct blasting accessories are drawn from the magazine as per design.
• Complete pre-use vehicle inspections and proper checklist submission.
• Carry out all pre-blast procedures and SHERQ requirements.
• Approve blasting after ensuring area safety and pre-blast procedures.
• Declare area safe after blast and complete reporting.
• Supervise Blasting Assistants and mixer-placer trucks.
• Escalate serious offences to Foreman.
• Assign housekeeping tasks to the blasting team and ensure completion.
