Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly knowledgeable Agricultural Agronomist to join our client in Centurion, Gauteng. You will work closely with farmers and agricultural businesses to assess needs, provide soil management advice, crop nutrition plans, and sustainable cultivation techniques to boost yields and profitability.

The role involves soil analysis, recommending fertilization, crop selection, pest management, and field trials.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Agronomist or in a similar advisory role.
Deep understanding of soil chemistry, plant physiology, and crop science.
Experience with soil testing equipment and interpretation of results.
Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.
Ability to travel within the region to visit farms and agricultural sites.

Responsibilities

Conduct soil analysis and recommend appropriate fertilization and soil improvement strategies.
Advise on crop selection, planting techniques, and pest/disease management for optimal yields.
Monitor crop development and provide timely recommendations based on field observations and data.
Develop and implement sustainable agricultural practices, including water conservation and land management.
Educate farmers on new technologies, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of client interactions, recommendations, and field trial results.
