Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Agricultural Agronomist to optimize crop yields and soil fertility in the Rustenburg region. You will advise farm managers and technical teams on diagnostics, fertilization programs, and sustainable practices, drawing on advanced agronomy research and field trials.

The role requires a strong scientific background, excellent problem-solving, and the ability to communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience as an Agronomist or in a similar agricultural research and advisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of soil chemistry, plant physiology, and entomology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct soil sampling and analysis to assess nutrient levels, pH, and other critical factors, recommending appropriate fertilization programs.
• Evaluate crop performance, diagnose diseases, pests, and weed problems, and develop integrated management strategies.
• Provide technical guidance on seed selection, planting techniques, irrigation, and harvesting methods to optimize crop production.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in agronomy, sustainable farming practices, and agricultural technology.
• Develop and implement field trials to test new products, varieties, and farming techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for farm managers, documenting findings and proposed actions.
