Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly knowledgeable and analytical Agronomist to advise and support agricultural operations in Klerksdorp, North West. You will optimize crop production through soil, water, and environmental analysis, conduct field trials, and develop cultivation strategies to maximize yield and quality.

The role requires a Masters or PhD in Agronomy or related field, 5+ years of experience, strong data analysis and communication skills, and proficiency with agricultural software.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in agronomy or crop consulting.
• Strong understanding of plant physiology, soil chemistry, and pest management.
• Experience with data analysis, research methodologies, and scientific reporting.

Responsibilities

• Analyze soil samples and environmental data to assess crop growing conditions and identify potential issues.
• Develop and recommend crop management plans, including fertilization, pest control, and irrigation strategies.
• Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate new crop varieties, farming techniques, and inputs.
• Provide technical advice and training to farm managers and staff on best agronomic practices.
• Monitor crop health and growth throughout the season, adjusting recommendations as needed.
• Stay updated on the latest agricultural research, technologies, and regulatory changes.
