About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join their installation and maintenance team in Paarl . This role is crucial for deploying and servicing the physical infrastructure that underpins modern telecommunications. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of fiber optic networks, performing installations, repairs, and testing. Key Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables according to industry standards and company specifications.
• Perform fiber optic testing using OTDR, power meters, and light sources to verify network performance and identify faults.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or malfunctioning fiber optic lines and equipment.
• Conduct site surveys and plan fiber optic installation routes.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, testing results, and repair activities.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and best practices for fiber optic handling.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification or apprenticeship in fiber optics is highly preferred.
• Proven experience working with fiber optic cables, splicing equipment, and testing tools.
• Solid understanding of fiber optic network infrastructure, components, and testing principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Good physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces if necessary.
