Placements24 is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our Cape Town operations team. You will install, splice, test, and repair fiber optic cables to sustain high-speed telecom services across the region.

The ideal candidate will be physically fit, detail-oriented, able to read blueprints, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather. A valid driver's license and reliable work ethic are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician.
• Splicing techniques (fusion & mechanical) and termination methods.
• Proficient with OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables in underground conduits, aerial routes, and buildings.
• Perform thorough testing and certification of fiber optic links using OTDRs and other specialized equipment.
• Diagnose and repair fiber optic network faults and outages to restore service promptly.
• Read and interpret network design blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Operate and maintain company vehicles and specialized tools and equipment safely.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

About the Role
