Job summary

Astral Foods Ltd is seeking a Farms Maintenance Manager in Standerton to lead the daily operations of the maintenance department, drive regulatory compliance, and deliver continuous improvement in line with Astral standards. You will head project management, budget control and team development on-site at the Standerton farm.

Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years as an Artisan Foreman, a relevant trade certificate (Electrician/Millwright), an N3, and a proactive approach to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum N3 qualification.
• Trade certificate as Electrician or Millwright.
• 3–5 years relevant experience as Artisan Foreman.
• Prepared to work standby.
• Computer literate; basic administrative and communication skills.
• Valid code 08 driver’s license essential.
• Exceptional managerial competencies and people skills.
• Passion for implementing the 20 Keys workplace improvement programme.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and execution of planned maintenance systems.
• Project management of new installations, equipment and upgrades.
• Manage vehicle fleet within the department.
• Stock and cost management of the maintenance store.
• Risk management within the department.
• OSHACT management of the department.
• Compile and manage yearly budgets for the department.
• Train and motivate personnel; manage contractors.
• Daily farm visits to inspect buildings and ensure maintenance standards.

Role Overview

Goldi, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is seeking a highly skilled Farms Maintenance Manager, to lead the day-to-day operations of the Standerton Maintenance Department, while leading the team to achieve operational excellence, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in line with Astral standards.

Role Responsibilities

• Maintaining and execution of planned maintenance systems;
• Project management of all new installations, equipment and upgrading’s;
• Managing of vehicle fleet in the department;
• Stock and cost management of maintenance store;
• Risk management;
• OSHACT management of department;
• Compilation and management of yearly budgets for the department;
• Manage, train and motivation of personnel;
• Manage contractors;
• Daily farm visits to inspect buildings and to assure quality of maintenance standards.

Required Qualification And Knowledge

• Minimum N3 qualification;
• Be in possession of a trade certificate as an Electrician or Millwright;
• Have at least 3 to 5 years relevant experience as an Artisan Foreman;
• Must be prepared to work standby;
• Must be computer literate;
• It is essential that the candidate have good administrative and communication skills;
• A valid code 08 drivers license is essential;
• Exceptional managerial competencies and excellent people skills;
• It is essential that the candidate have a passion for implementing the 20 Keys workplace improvement programme.
