Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Farm Supervisor in the Upington area to oversee daily farming operations and lead a team of farm workers. This hands-on role requires practical knowledge of crop cultivation, irrigation, and machinery, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and achieving farm objectives.

You will monitor field conditions, coordinate staffing, and report on progress to the Farm Manager, driving continuous improvement and productive output.

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee daily operations and manage a team of farm workers in the Upington area. This role is hands-on, requiring strong leadership skills and a practical understanding of agricultural tasks, including crop cultivation and general farm maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring that all farming activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the farm's strategic goals, playing a key part in the successful production and management of the farm's agricultural output.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the work of farm labourers engaged in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
• Ensure adherence to farm safety protocols and efficient use of farm machinery and equipment.
• Monitor crop progress, irrigation, and general field conditions, reporting any issues.
• Assist in the implementation of crop management plans and pest control measures.
• Maintain records of daily activities, labour hours, and resource usage.
• Coordinate with the Farm Manager on operational needs and staff allocation.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a supervisory role on a farm.
• Solid understanding of general farming practices, including crop care and machinery operation.
