The role requires at least 5 years in farming, hands-on operation of tractors and harvesters, knowledge of cropping techniques and irrigation, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Operations Supervisor to oversee daily operations on their mixed-crop farm in Pretoria . This role requires a hands-on individual capable of managing field activities, leading a small team of farmhands, and ensuring that all agricultural tasks are performed efficiently and to high standards. You will be responsible for the cultivation of various crops, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth running of the farm under the guidance of the farm manager. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily tasks of farm laborers, including planting, cultivating, irrigating, weeding, and harvesting crops.
• Ensure all farming activities are carried out in accordance with best practices and company standards for quality and efficiency.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, performing basic repairs as needed.
• Monitor crop growth and health, identifying and reporting any issues such as pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
• Assist in managing inventory of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm supplies.
• Implement and adhere to farm safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all staff.

Requirements

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in general farming operations, with a strong understanding of mixed cropping systems.
• Experience in supervising a team of farm workers.
• Proficiency in operating and performing basic maintenance on tractors, harvesters, and other farm machinery.
• Knowledge of crop cultivation techniques, pest and disease identification, and basic irrigation methods.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
