Placements24 is seeking a Farm Operations Supervisor for our client near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will supervise daily field activities, manage planting, cultivation, pest control, and harvesting, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

The role requires a Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture or Horticulture, at least 3 years of supervisory farm experience, and ability to work outdoors, lead a team, and maintain records.

About the Role

Our client is a major producer of high-quality horticultural products, operating extensive farms in the fertile region of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Farm Operations Supervisor to oversee daily farming activities, ensuring efficient production and adherence to quality standards. This role involves supervising a team of farm workers, managing planting, cultivation, pest control, and harvesting operations for a variety of fruits and vegetables. The supervisor will play a key role in maintaining farm equipment, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with practical farming experience to take on more responsibility and contribute to the success of a leading agricultural enterprise in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of horticultural practices. This is a hands-on role requiring direct supervision and involvement in field operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of farm workers engaged in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
• Ensure that all farming operations are carried out efficiently and in accordance with established standards.
• Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and implement control measures.
• Manage irrigation schedules and ensure adequate water supply to crops.
• Oversee the proper use and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment.
• Assist in the planning and scheduling of seasonal farm activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on the farm.
• Maintain records of work performed, resources used, and production output.
• Train and mentor new farm workers on best practices and safety procedures.
• Report any operational issues or concerns to the Farm Manager.

Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in farm operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Hands-on experience with horticultural crops (fruits, vegetables).
• Good understanding of crop cultivation techniques, pest and disease management.
• Experience in supervising and motivating a team of workers.
• Basic knowledge of farm machinery operation and maintenance.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain basic records.
• Valid driver's license.
