Job summary

Farm Manager SA in Paarl, Western Cape, is seeking an experienced farm manager to oversee olive groves, manage harvesting operations, and coordinate pest control, irrigation, and records. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and farm-management experience.

Candidates should have agricultural qualifications, familiarity with olive oil processing, and good English/Afrikaans communication. You will lead staff, supervise contractors, and ensure timely production from grove to bottling.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Grove management including cultivation, pest control, irrigation and development of new groves.
• Maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment, overseeing repairs.
• General farm maintenance including buildings, fencing and hygiene.
• Management of staff with scheduling, attendance and disciplinary handling.
• Record keeping for pest control, irrigation and harvesting statistics.
• Harvesting supervision, contractor coordination and olive intake weighing.
• Coordination with finance, sales orders and reporting to MD.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of the following will be an advantage:
  • Crops growth and diseases.
  • Planting of olive trees.
  • Harvesting of fruit by hand and machine.
  • Identifying plants, pests and weeds.
  • Applying pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops.
• Business Management knowledge and experience Mathematical and strategic planning skills essential.

  • Daily and weekly written status reports regarding all operational activities.
  • Provide strategic perspective and operational activities.
  • Keeping the owner of the farm informed about the progress of the trees
  • Communication and reporting will be directly with the Managing Director.
