We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day running and maintenance of a farm situated within a private nature reserve. This is a practical management position suited to someone who understands that farming is a lifestyle and is comfortable taking responsibility for after-hours tasks when required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective upkeep of the property, farm equipment and engines, while also taking an active interest in conservation and the surrounding environment.
Oversee the day-to-day running and maintenance of the farm.
Service and maintain farm equipment, machinery and engines.
Identify maintenance requirements and areas of concern proactively.
Perform after-hours tasks when required as part of the management responsibilities.
Provide clear and concise progress reports to the trustees regarding work completed, areas of concern and recommendations.
Take direction and instruction and ensure tasks are attended to without unnecessary delay.
Maintain a high standard of care across the farm and its equipment.
Support and promote conservation activities and initiatives on the reserve.
Previous experience working on a farm is essential.
Strong mechanical knowledge and experience servicing farm equipment and engines.
Honest, reliable and hard-working.
Proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
A genuine interest in conservation and the natural environment.
Comfortable with the demands of farm life, including performing tasks outside normal working hours when required.
Ability to take direction and instruction and act promptly.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise progress reports.
Willingness to reside on the nature reserve.
