Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Family Support Worker to assist families in Mahikeng, North West. The role involves in-home and community-based support, strengthening family bonds and promoting child welfare through practical guidance and access to resources.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or Community Development, plus experience working with families and children in support roles.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Community Development, or related field.
• Previous experience working with families and children in a support role is essential.
• Demonstrated understanding of child development, family dynamics, and parenting challenges.

Responsabilités

• Provide in-home support and services to families, addressing identified needs and challenges.
• Assist families in developing parenting skills, household management, and positive communication strategies.
• Connect families with community resources, such as childcare, education, healthcare, and employment services.
• Conduct home visits and assessments to monitor family well-being and progress.
• Offer emotional support and guidance to parents and children, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
• Facilitate family activities and educational programs to strengthen family functioning.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
• Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers and educators, to ensure a coordinated approach to family support.
• Advocate for families' needs and help them navigate complex systems.
• Respond to crisis situations with sensitivity and professionalism within the Mahikeng community.
