Placements24 is seeking a nurturing Family Support Counselor for its Port Elizabeth team. This role combines in-office engagement with remote work to support families, strengthen relationships, and enhance overall well-being within the community.

You will work with families to develop coping strategies, improve communication, and access essential resources, delivering home visits and family-centered programs in a flexible hybrid setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
• Registered with the relevant professional council (e.g., SACSSP).
• Experience working with families in counseling or support roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and support services to families facing issues such as conflict, financial stress, or child-rearing challenges.
• Facilitate family therapy sessions designed to improve communication and resolve disputes constructively.
• Assist families in identifying and accessing community resources, including educational, health, and social services.
• Conduct home visits and assessments to understand family dynamics and needs in their natural environment.
• Develop and implement family-centered programs and workshops aimed at enhancing parenting skills and family resilience.
• Maintain confidential client records and prepare progress reports for case management.
