Job summary

K2 Recruit is seeking a hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance across production and warehouse facilities in a fast-paced environment. The role focuses on reliability, preventative maintenance and coordinating external service providers to minimise downtime.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage contractors, and uphold safety and regulatory standards while supporting efficient operations and asset integrity across site.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) required.
  • Relevant trade/technical qualification advantageous.
  • Maintenance, mechanical, electrical or facilities management qualification advantageous.
  • Minimum 2–5 years' supervisory experience in maintenance or facilities environment.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or production environment is essential.
  • Cosmetics, FMCG or automated production machinery experience advantageous.
  • Exposure to preventative maintenance planning and execution.
  • Experience managing contractors and external service providers.
  • Pneumatic systems experience advantageous.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot automated production equipment (including filling, packaging or conveyor systems) advantageous.
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

ROLE OBJECTIVES
  • Ensure maximum availability and reliability of production equipment and facilities.

  • Support operational efficiency through continuous improvement and proactive maintenance initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities Maintenance
  • Maintain the overall condition of buildings, offices, warehouse facilities and production infrastructure.

  • Coordinate repairs relating to electrical, plumbing, lighting, air conditioning, roofing and general building maintenance.

  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance requirements and safety risks.

  • Ensure facilities remain clean, functional and compliant with company standards.

Production Equipment Maintenance
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance schedules on all production and warehouse equipment.

  • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.

  • Diagnose faults and coordinate repairs on mechanical, pneumatic and automated production equipment.

  • Assist with installation, commissioning and optimisation of new machinery.

  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability.

Planned Maintenance & Asset Management
  • Develop, maintain and execute preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service histories and asset registers.

  • Monitor equipment lifespan and recommend refurbishment or replacement where necessary.

  • Ensure critical spare parts are identified, available and effectively managed.

Contractor & Supplier Management
  • Coordinate external contractors for specialised maintenance and repair work.

  • Monitor contractor performance, workmanship and adherence to company safety standards.

  • Obtain quotations and assist with supplier selection where required.

  • Ensure service level agreements and maintenance schedules are achieved.

Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Occupational Health & Safety legislation.

  • Maintain safe working practices throughout all maintenance operations.

  • Conduct risk assessments before maintenance activities commence.

  • Ensure appropriate lock-out procedures and safety controls are followed.

  • Support internal safety inspections and compliance audits.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Recommend process improvements that reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

  • Support preventative maintenance initiatives aimed at improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects across production and warehouse operations.

Leadership & Team Support
  • Provide guidance and technical support to operational teams.

  • Stand in for the Head of Production when required.

  • Coordinate maintenance priorities across departments.

  • Build strong working relationships with production, warehouse and management teams.

  • Promote a positive, solutions-focused and collaborative working environment.
