Job summary

Express Employment Professionals Midrand is seeking an experienced maintenance professional in Gauteng to lead and optimise the maintenance function for production equipment and facilities. You will drive preventative maintenance and coordinate breakdowns, ensuring reliability and uptime.

The role demands strong supervision, fault-finding, PLC/electrical knowledge, and a proven track record in managing maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) and a relevant technical qualification.
• 4–6 years maintenance experience in manufacturing or production.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the maintenance team and day-to-day maintenance operations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programmes to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability.
• Coordinate equipment breakdowns and ensure corrective actions are completed and effectively followed up.
• Take overall responsibility for the maintenance and reliability of production equipment and machinery.
• Oversee the maintenance of buildings, facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Ensure all company assets are properly serviced and maintained.
• Manage maintenance spares, equipment, and maintenance-related budgets.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors and external service providers where required.
• Ensure all statutory inspections, servicing schedules, and safety requirements are completed and maintained.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and implement effective root-cause solutions.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance requirements for plant shutdowns and major repair projects.
• Collaborate with Production teams to minimise downtime and maintenance-related disruptions.
• Work with Engineering teams on larger mechanical, electrical, PLC, automation, and equipment improvement projects.
• Manage, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to the required standard

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Relevant technical qualification such as Millwright, Electrician, Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 4-6 years proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment
• Previous supervisory or management experience
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Sound understanding of preventative maintenance principles and maintenance planning
• Experience managing maintenance teams, contractors, and external service providers
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Computer literacy with experience using maintenance management systems and maintenance records
• Valid driver's licence
