Job summary

HotelJobs seeks a highly organised Facilities & Maintenance Manager for a luxury hotel set against the Stellenbosch Mountains. The role oversees maintenance, infrastructure and energy conservation, ensuring a safe, functional environment for guests and staff.

Responsibilities include overseeing budgets, capital projects and preventative maintenance, leading the emergency response team and coordinating internal and external teams to uphold high service standards in a premium hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) plus a trade qualification or degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of hands-on maintenance and facilities management experience in a hotel or commercial hospitality environment.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, irrigation, HVAC, mechanical and building management systems.
• Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving abilities; leadership and clear communication.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office; strong organisational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces to identify issues and ensure compliance with codes.
• Manage and improve routine servicing schedules for HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, plumbing, and electrical grids.
• Supervise, mentor and schedule maintenance technicians, handymen and external vendors.
• Plan and execute renovation or repair projects while minimizing disruption to hotel guests.
• Monitor operating expenses, negotiate vendor contracts and seek energy-saving efficiencies.
• Maintain compliance with fire, health and occupational safety regulations and respond to emergencies.
