Job summary

takealot Group in Cape Town central office invites applications for a Facilities Intern. You will support data capture, facilities systems administration and project coordination in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

This 18-month internship develops technical and soft skills through hands-on tasks, mentoring, and access to online learning. You will work with contractors, maintain safety records, and help improve building operations.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus an N6 certificate or NCV Level 4 qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building/Construction, Property/Operations Management, Office Administration, or a related field.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyse and present facilities-related data to support decisions and continuous improvement.
• Assist with facilities systems administration, access control, CCTV, helpdesk and procurement portals.
• Plan and coordinate facilities projects, office moves and space changes.
• Inspect and maintain building infrastructure, report issues with plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general maintenance.
• Assist with OHS compliance, including inspections, incident reporting and records.
• Coordinate with internal clients, contractors and service providers for repairs and services.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations, create purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders.
• Contribute to SOPs, checklists, registers and other facilities documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications & Experience

Key responsibilities

• Collect, capture, collate, analyse and present Facilities-related operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Assist with the administration and operation of Facilities systems, including access control, CCTV monitoring, maintenance/helpdesk systems, finance and procurement portals, and other relevant platforms.
• Assist with the planning, coordination and execution of Facilities projects, office moves, space changes and other building-related initiatives.
• Assist with physical inspections and maintenance activities across the building, including identifying and reporting issues relating to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general building maintenance and office infrastructure.
• Assist with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance, including inspections, documentation, incident reporting, compliance records and corrective actions.
• Liaise with internal clients, contractors and service providers to coordinate maintenance, repairs, services and Facilities-related requests.
• Assist with obtaining and comparing supplier quotations, creating purchase requisitions and issuing purchase orders in accordance with company processes.
• Support the development, review and maintenance of SOPs, checklists, registers, compliance records and other Facilities documentation, while participating in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an 18-month contract position
