Job summary

takealot Group in Cape Town central office is seeking a highly motivated Facilities Intern to join our team on an 18-month contract. This internship offers hands-on exposure to facilities operations, data reporting and vendor coordination.

You will support administration of facilities systems, assist with safety compliance and assist with project planning and office moves. We value initiative, collaboration and a proactive mindset, with learnings across a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 with N6 certificate or NCV Level 4 in Facilities Management or related field.
  • Familiarity with facilities operations, building maintenance and OHS concepts.
  • Strong computer literacy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, capture, analyse and present facilities-related data to support decision-making.
  • Assist with administration and operation of facilities systems (access control, CCTV, helpdesk, finance portals).
  • Assist with planning and coordination of facilities projects and office moves.
  • Inspect and report on building maintenance issues (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
  • Support OHS compliance documentation, incident reporting and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers for maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist with supplier quotations, purchase requisitions and orders.
  • Contribute to SOPs, checklists and compliance records.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 plus an N6 certificate or NCV Level 4 qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building/Construction, Property/Operations Management, Office Administration, or a related field.

Key responsibilities
  • Collect, capture, collate, analyse and present Facilities-related operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with the administration and operation of Facilities systems, including access control, CCTV monitoring, maintenance/helpdesk systems, finance and procurement portals, and other relevant platforms.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and execution of Facilities projects, office moves, space changes and other building-related initiatives.
  • Assist with physical inspections and maintenance activities across the building, including identifying and reporting issues relating to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general building maintenance and office infrastructure.
  • Assist with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance, including inspections, documentation, incident reporting, compliance records and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with internal clients, contractors and service providers to coordinate maintenance, repairs, services and Facilities-related requests.
  • Assist with obtaining and comparing supplier quotations, creating purchase requisitions and issuing purchase orders in accordance with company processes.
  • Support the development, review and maintenance of SOPs, checklists, registers, compliance records and other Facilities documentation, while participating in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is an 18-month contract position
