Job summary

Tongaat Hulett is seeking a hands-on workshop assistant to support boilermakers and fabrication tasks at our site. You will assist with tacking, setup, and crane/forklift operations while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.

The role requires a Grade 12 and a practical background in fabrication, with 5S discipline and reliable, hard-working behavior. Forklift/overhead crane licenses are advantageous and preferred for this position.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (matric) required.
• Forklift & Overhead crane license will be an advantage.
• Experience in the Fabrication Workshop.
• Sober habits, 5S oriented, hard worker.

Responsibilities

• Attend to plant related defects or breakdowns when required.
• Assist in tacking work pieces to help boilermaker assemble tasks.
• Conduct housekeeping after job completion.
• Assist artisan in filling PM01 job tickets for the workshop.
• Demarcate/ isolate the site, clear obstacles and set up materials for task execution.
• Identify different welding consumables.
• Operate overhead crane and forklift to lift heavy project loads.
• Physically set up work pieces required for the task.
• Adhere to SHEQ standards and practice.
