Job summary

Samancor Chrome Ltd. is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Supervisor to lead Stores and optimise stock for uninterrupted plant operations in Limpopo. You will drive processes across SAP, Coupa and other IMS tools, manage stock counts and ensure accurate ERP data.

Applicants should have a relevant Logistics/Supply Chain qualification and 4–6 years in inventory management, preferably in mining or smelting environments. Strong leadership, planning and cost-control skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or National Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain Management.
• 4 years’ relevant C-Upper experience (internal candidates) or 6 years’ experience (external).
• Experience in mining/smelter inventory environments is preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP, Coupa and ERP systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Stores team to provide an efficient warehousing service and support plant operations.
• Maintain and improve stores procedures with SAP/Coupa integration.
• Conduct stock counts, reconcile ERP data, and manage stock movements.
• Optimise stock levels to improve working capital and maintenance planning.

Job description

To control and optimise inventory and rotables and to continuously improve current practices, methods, equipment and processes in a safe manner, in order to provide the required service levels and reduce inventory costs to the company.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

• Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

PEOPLE

Supervise the Team:

• Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
  • Labour complement in line with budget
  • Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Section
• Manage performance against set targets and competencies
  • Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
• Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
• Conduct recruitment interviews

CUSTOMERS

• Manage relationships with key stakeholders and ensure Customer Satisfaction
• Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities
• Provide customer service and ensure customer satisfaction and competitive practice

BUSINESS PROCESSES

General:

• Lead the Stores team to provide an efficient warehousing service, ensuring un-interrupted plant operations
• Maintain and improve stores procedures and controls with the integrated use of SAP/ COUPA
• Investigate abnormal reservations
• Optimise stock holding to improve working capital and to facilitate effective maintenance
• Perform Time and Attendance verifications for the stores department
• Ensure regular stock counts and reconciliations against ERP system

Inventory Control:

• Manage the Inventory Control / Materials Management processes:
• Quality inspections and control (Binning)
• Ordering
• Receiving
• Issuing
• Safeguarding
• Approve daily stock requisitions utilizing the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system
• Management and regular review of minimum & maximum stock levels
• Management and control of stock at holding areas at the Plant (outside Main Store)
• Management and control of Diesel
• Management and control of Critical Spares

Computer Systems:

• Maintain and management of material master data and creation of new materials
• Manage Critical Items (ABC Analysis) – classification and ensure no out of stocks
• Manage Obsolete stocks, write off processes and tender process to sell scrapped stocks

Rotable Stock Management:

• Manage rotable process in line with company procedure and standards
• Identify rotable spares and any potential warranty claims
• Optimise rotable stock items and related quality and repair warrantees

SOPs:

• Review, update and develop SOP’s
