KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, handle and replenish HDPE raw materials, additives and regrind.
- Assist with start-up, operation and shutdown of the extrusion line.
- Monitor production equipment and report abnormalities.
- Assist with product cutting, sizing, winding, coiling and handling.
- Assist with machine and tooling changeovers.
- Conduct basic product inspections and measurements where trained.
- Identify and report defective or non-conforming products.
- Assist with production records, counts and scrap reporting.
- Perform authorized basic machine care and cleaning.
- Maintain good housekeeping and an organised work area.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements and LOTO/isolation requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, incidents and near misses.
- Support the Senior Extrusion Operator and Extrusion Line Foreman in achieving production and quality targets.
- Work effectively with Production, Quality and Maintenance teams.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Qualification: Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
- Technical/vocational training will be advantageous.
- Experience: 1–2 years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Extrusion, plastics, HDPE or metal-processing experience will be advantageous.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools.
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures and work safely around machinery.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires working in a hot, noisy and physically demanding manufacturing environment, including prolonged standing, manual handling and exposure to moving machinery and production materials. The successful candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime where operationally required.
