Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment (PTY) Ltd is seeking an External Sales Consultant for our client in the North of Johannesburg. This permanent role requires extensive shipping industry and sales experience, with a focus on client acquisition and rate negotiations.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, admin focus, and proven ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy. A valid driver’s license is preferred to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• More than 6 years’ experience in shipping environment or similar.
• More than 2 years’ experience in sales in shipping environment.
• Tertiary qualification in maritime studies/import and/or similar will be a great advantage.
• Admin orientated with high degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing new clients.
• Maintaining current clients.
• Filing and checking of SQ’s.
• Applying to principals for freight rates, routings, feeder space, uncleared shipments etc.
• Providing customers with freight rate quotations.
• Assisting customers with queries relating to shipments and services.
• Communicating with principals on BIZ matters.
• Distributing freight rate guidelines; BIZ notices, sailing schedules.
• Entertaining clients and organising client functions.
• Negotiating tenders/freight contracts with clients and principals.
