Placements24 is seeking a qualified Mine Surveyor to join our Vereeniging operations team. You will map mine workings, monitor development progress, and ensure safety and structural integrity using total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years experience in underground mining, professional registration, and strong geomatics knowledge to support planning and production with accurate spatial data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably in underground mining.
• Professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., PLATO) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with surveying instruments and software: total stations, GPS, laser scanners, AutoCAD, Deswik, MinePlan.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precise surveys of underground and surface mine workings, including setting out, pick-ups, and monitoring deformation.
• Prepare accurate mine plans, cross-sections, and volumetric calculations using specialized surveying software.
• Manage and maintain surveying equipment, ensuring calibration and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with mine engineers and geologists to provide essential spatial data for planning and production.
• Monitor and report on the progress of development ends and production faces against planned schedules.
• Ensure all survey work complies with industry standards and legal requirements for mine surveying.
• Maintain detailed survey records and databases.
