Placements24 is seeking a Performance Tennis Coach & Academy Director in Pietermaritzburg. Lead the academy's strategic direction, oversee coaching methodologies, coach junior and professional players, and drive elite development.

You will manage staff, schedules, and partnerships with sports scientists and medical professionals. The role requires a minimum of 10 years coaching experience with at least 5 in leadership, plus PTR/USPTA/ITF certification.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of high-performance tennis coaching experience.
• 5+ years in leadership/director roles.
• Coaching certification from PTR/USPTA/ITF.
• Proven success developing players to national/international levels.
• Deep knowledge of modern tennis tech, training methods, and sports science.
• Strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills.
• Experience managing budgets and staff.
• Understanding of junior development pathways.
• Willingness to travel extensively for tournaments/recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a cutting-edge coaching program for juniors and professionals.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of coaching staff.
• Conduct individual and group coaching for technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.
• Create personalized training plans tailored to each player’s needs and goals.
• Monitor progress with regular assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Manage academy operations: scheduling, court use, equipment maintenance.
• Represent the academy at tournaments and recruitment events; build relationships with players/parents/governing bodies.
• Collaborate with sports scientists, physiotherapists, and nutritionists for holistic development.
• Foster a positive, disciplined environment conducive to peak performance.
• Contribute to strategic planning and business development of the academy.
