Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Mining Engineer for a major mining operation in Rustenburg, North West. You will lead underground and open-pit programs across PGM extraction, drive safety, efficiency and profitability, and set technical direction for the mine.

You will supervise engineers, surveyors and technical staff, develop mining plans, optimize design, ventilation and ground control, review feasibility studies and capital proposals, and work with geologists and metallurgists to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is required.
• 10+ years in mining operations with senior/lead experience.
• Extensive PGM mining experience in the Rustenburg area preferred.
• Experience with mine planning software and underground methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mining plans and production schedules.
• Supervise engineers, surveyors and technical staff.
• Ensure adherence to HSE regulations and company policies.
• Optimize mine design, ventilation, ground support and planning.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify improvements.
• Evaluate new mining technologies and equipment for productivity.
• Manage contracts, procurement and resource allocation.
• Prepare feasibility studies and capital expenditure proposals.
• Collaborate with geologists and metallurgists for resource recovery.
• Foster safety, continuous improvement and technical excellence.
