Job summary

Exceed HR and Recruitment in Hermanus, Western Cape, seeks an experienced Estate/Facilities Manager to oversee maintenance of estate buildings, vehicles and equipment on a permanent basis. You will lead maintenance teams, manage water and utility systems, implement preventative maintenance, and ensure health and safety compliance across operations.

The role requires a hands-on leader with a minimum of five years in maintenance management, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outside

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance management or senior maintenance leadership.
• Technical qualification in Maintenance, Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or related field advantageous.
• Experience in wine estates, hospitality, agriculture, manufacturing or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building maintenance.
• Experience managing water infrastructure, utilities and critical systems.
• Experience implementing preventative maintenance programmes.
• Experience managing budgets, teams and contractors.
• Strong understanding of occupational health, safety and compliance requirements.
• Excellent planning, organisational and project management skills.
• Hands-on, practical approach with attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s licence essential.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repairs of estate buildings, facilities, vehicles and equipment.
• Manage water infrastructure, electrical systems, plumbing and utilities.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes and schedules.
• Maintain asset registers, service records and equipment replacement plans.
• Lead maintenance teams, contractors and external service providers.
• Coordinate maintenance projects, refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Oversee security infrastructure, firefighting systems and emergency equipment.
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets and capital expenditure requirements.
• Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
• Collaborate with estate departments to ensure efficient daily operations.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues and critical operational requirements.
