Placements24 is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to oversee environmental compliance and management for mining operations in Sandton. You will develop environmental management plans, conduct EIAs, monitor environmental performance, and ensure adherence to local and international standards.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Environmental Science with 3+ years of mining environmental experience, strong SA regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in mining.
• Thorough knowledge of South African environmental legislation (NEMA, MPRDA).
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new projects and expansions.
• Monitor environmental parameters (e.g., water quality, air emissions, noise levels).
