The role demands 7+ years in environmental management within mining or heavy industry, strong SA regulatory knowledge, and robust project leadership.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 7+ years in environmental management, preferably in mining/heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting.
• Proven experience in EIAs and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Solid understanding of mine closure and rehabilitation principles.
• Excellent project management, analytical and communication skills.
• Registration as Pr. Sci. Nat. is an advantage.

Our client, a significant contributor to the Mining industry, is seeking a dedicated Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and stewardship at their operations near Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This vital role involves developing, implementing, and managing environmental programs to ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in environmental science, regulatory affairs, and impact assessment, coupled with excellent leadership and project management skills. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive environmental management systems (EMS).

Requirements

Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector. In-depth knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes. Proven experience in conducting EIAs and developing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs). Strong understanding of mine closure and rehabilitation principles. Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure. Registered Professional Scientist (Pr. Sci.
