Job summary

Placements24 in Nelspruit is seeking an Environmental Engineer to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to conduct EIAs for diverse projects in Mpumalanga. You will help develop sustainable strategies and monitor environmental performance across industrial and infrastructure initiatives.

The role requires a strong background in environmental legislation, modeling and monitoring techniques, and the ability to communicate effectively with regulators, clients, and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or a related science.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or compliance.
• Professional registration (e.g., EAPASA) is highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of SA environmental legislation (NEMA, MPRDA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial environmental legislation and regulations.
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs.
• Advise on environmental best practices and mitigation strategies for construction and operational activities.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Investigate and report on environmental incidents and develop corrective actions.
