About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join their team in Nelspruit, focusing on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and regulatory compliance. This role is vital for ensuring that infrastructure and development projects meet environmental standards and regulations, minimizing negative impacts on the natural surroundings. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring projects align with national environmental legislation. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for various development and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor project activities to ensure adherence to environmental permits and legal obligations.
• Identify potential environmental risks and propose effective mitigation measures.
• Liaise with environmental authorities, clients, and project teams to facilitate the approval process and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Stay updated on national and local environmental legislation and best practices related to engineering projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or a related science degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, particularly in EIAs and compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of South African environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
• Experience with environmental modeling and monitoring techniques.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex environmental issues clearly.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assessment projects concurrently.
