Job summary

Cape Peninsula University of Technology is seeking a skilled professional to support and administer our enterprise virtualization environment and related infrastructure services within ICTS.

The role focuses on ensuring availability, performance, scalability and stability of virtualised server environments, while aligning with institutional objectives and collaborating with ICTS projects and stakeholders across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field.
• 4+ years’ experience in VMware or enterprise virtualization.
• VMware or infrastructure certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage the enterprise virtualization environment.
• Ensure availability, performance, scalability and stability of virtualised servers.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity and documentation.
• Collaborate with ICTS projects and stakeholders.

Job description

To support and administer the enterprise virtualisation environment and associated infrastructure services within ICTS. The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and stability of virtualised server environments and supporting enterprise systems aligned to institutional operational and technology objectives.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field
• At least four (4) years’ experience in VMware or enterprise virtualisation platforms
• Relevant VMware, virtualisation or infrastructure certifications will be advantageous
• Experience with enterprise server, storage and data centre environments
• Experience with high availability, clustering and performance optimisation
• Experience in the Higher Education environment will be advantageous
