Job summary
Cape Peninsula University of Technology is seeking an Enterprise Systems Specialist for Backup and Disaster Recovery to support and administer enterprise backup, recovery, and DR services within ICTS. The role ensures availability, integrity, recoverability, and protection of enterprise systems, data, and infrastructure through monitoring, testing and operations.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, with 4+ years in enterprise infrastructures, and experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field
- 4+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure or backup administration environments
- Relevant backup, disaster recovery or infrastructure certifications will be advantageous
- Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam)
- Experience supporting virtualised and enterprise server environments
- Experience with disaster recovery procedures, testing and business continuity processes
- Experience in the Higher Education environment will be advantageous
- Experience with enterprise backup technologies such as Veeam or similar solutions
- Familiarity with VMware and virtualization technologies
- Understanding of SAN, storage and enterprise infrastructure environments
- Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting and performance analysis
- Knowledge of scripting and automation fundamentals
- Understanding of ITIL, change management and operational best practices
