Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Energy Project Manager to lead key energy infrastructure initiatives from the Tembisa, Gauteng office. You will oversee planning, execution, and handover, coordinating internal engineering, procurement, and construction teams with external stakeholders.

The role requires 5+ years in project management within energy or infrastructure, strong leadership and budgeting skills, and familiarity with PMI/PRINCE2.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience managing multiple complex projects from initiation to closure.
• Strong knowledge of PMI and/or PRINCE2 methodologies and tools.
• Proven budgeting, cost control, and financial management skills.
• Familiarity with South African energy policies and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Experience using project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans with scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Oversee day-to-day project operations for smooth execution.
• Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, construction) and external stakeholders.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues; develop mitigation strategies.
• Monitor progress, performance, and expenditures; provide regular reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Facilitate effective communication among project team members and with clients.
• Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.
• Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
• Lead and motivate project teams to achieve objectives and deadlines.
