Job summary

The Legends Agency is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Designer for a Durbanville, Cape Town FMCG machinery project. You will own the full design process from concept brief to fabrication and commissioning support.

Responsibilities include creating 3D models and 2D drawings in Autodesk Inventor, managing BOMs in Vault, and collaborating with electrical engineers and production teams to deliver high-performance machinery while meeting safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification, diploma, or degree.
• Experience: 25 years of dedicated experience designing industrial or FMCG machinery.
• Technical skills: Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and VAULT.
• Knowledge: GD&T, material selection, and fabrication processes.
• Mindset: A collaborative team player with a sharp, analytical problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Full-Lifecycle Design: Own the design process from concept brief to final product, creating detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Data & BOM Management: Maintain complex assemblies, revisions, and precise Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Autodesk VAULT.
• Innovation & Improvement: Assist with prototype testing, resolve manufacturing hurdles, and suggest upgrades to improve machine uptime and efficiency.
• Collaboration: Partner with electrical engineers, production teams, and clients to translate complex requirements into buildable, high-performance designs.
• Compliance: Ensure all machinery designs meet strict safety, quality, and industry regulatory standards.
