Job summary

Our client is a private equity-investment firm offering exposure to the full investment lifecycle from origination through to exit execution. Based in Cape Town, the Investment Analyst will build financial models, conduct research and prepare memoranda while working with senior professionals across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in private equity or VC, a related degree, and professional qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Professional qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, CFA, CPA or CMA) preferred.
• 2–4 years’ relevant experience in private equity, venture capital or similar investment environment.
• Proven experience in research, financial modelling and valuation.
• Exposure to M&A, capital raising, due diligence and transaction execution.
• Experience preparing investment and board-level presentations and reports.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Build financial models, conduct valuations and assess investment returns.
• Conduct company, industry and market research to evaluate opportunities.
• Prepare investment memoranda, presentations and recommendations.
• Support due diligence, transaction structuring, negotiations and deal execution.
• Monitor portfolio performance against objectives.
• Assist with portfolio reporting, investment reviews and ESG assessments.
• Support board and board committee activities.
• Identify new investment opportunities and maintain the pipeline.
• Build relationships with entrepreneurs, management teams and advisors.
