A $1bn Africa-focused private equity firm is seeking a Private Equity Analyst to join its Cape Town office.

This role offers hands-on exposure across the full investment lifecycle, working closely with senior investment professionals in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment, with strong development opportunities and early responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess investment opportunities through market research, sector analysis, and company screening
• Build and maintain financial models to analyse performance, valuation, and key value drivers
• Support end-to-end due diligence and transaction execution, including coordination with external advisors
• Monitor portfolio company performance, update valuations, and contribute to strategic and operational initiatives
• Prepare investment memoranda, internal presentations, and reporting materials
• Travel occasionally within South Africa and internationally

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Business, or a related field
• 1–3 years of experience in private equity, investment banking/M&A, corporate finance, consulting, audit, or transaction services
• Strong relevant internships with transaction or financial analysis exposure will also be considered
• CFA, CAIA, or other financial qualifications are an advantage
• Strong financial modelling skills and advanced Excel capability, with a solid understanding of valuation methodologies
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
• Sound commercial judgment and understanding of business models and industry dynamics
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
