Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Software Engineer in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will design, code, test, and deploy embedded software for automotive systems, collaborating with a skilled team in a hybrid work setup.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, RTOS experience, and knowledge of CAN/LIN/Ethernet. You will participate in code reviews and drive quality across development stages while staying aligned with ISO 26262 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Proven embedded software development experience, preferably automotive.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet.
• Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of automotive safety standards (ISO 26262) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement embedded software for automotive ECUs and infotainment systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented C/C++ code.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and system architects on requirements.
• Perform unit, integration, and system testing to ensure quality.
• Debug and resolve defects identified in testing and production.
• Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards.
• Contribute to process improvements in development tools.
• Create and maintain design specifications and user guides.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate software components.
• Stay updated on emerging automotive software technologies.
