Job summary

Trudyq Consulting seeks a hands-on Electro-Mechanical Technician to lead equipment assembly, maintenance and installations for medical systems. Work with project engineers and teams to ensure installations meet plan.

Location: Retreat, Cape Town area. Market related remuneration. 5+ years maintenance experience and strong fault-finding skills are required, with PLC and AutoCAD knowledge advantageous.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in electrical or mechanical trades with supervisory exposure.
• Experience in manufacturing/production maintenance is essential.
• Proficient in reading electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Fault-find electrical and mechanical issues on equipment.
• Install, modify and commission equipment and plants.
• Assemble plant-room equipment and electrical panels.
• Maintain utilities such as air compressors, vacuum pumps and PSA oxygen systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled and pneumatic systems; provide remote support as needed.
• Keep maintenance records and QMS documentation; uphold workshop standards.

Job description

An opportunity for a hands‑on Electro-Mechanical Technician to lead and undertake equipment assembly, maintenance and installations functions in this organisation, which specialises in medical equipment (Plant Room - PSA oxygen systems, Compressors, Vacuum systems etc) and medical pipeline installations.

For equipment assembly and installations, to work closely with the project engineer and the installations/production teams ensuring equipment assembly & installations are executed to plan.

Location: Retreat, Southern Suburbs (only candidate that resides in Cape Town will be considered)

Remuneration: Market Related

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Tested Electrician or Millwright (Red Seal) Registered with ECSA will be advantageous
• Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience within manufacturing or production environment
• Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings
• Good mechanical maintenance experience & knowledge on equipment such as air compressors and vacuum pumps
• Experienced in PLC fault finding (DELTA PLCs and programming experience advantageous)
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
• Computer literacy and maintenance reporting experience (AutoCAD advantageous)
• Own Vehicle and Valid driver's licence

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 16.30, Friday 07.30 to 15.30 Must be available via cell phone support afterhours

Core Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute preventative and breakdown/crisis maintenance
• Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding on equipment
• Perform equipment installations, modifications and commissioning activities
• Plant room equipment assembly and testing, including electrical panels
• Maintain and repair utilities including air compressors, air dryers, vacuum pumps, oxygen generators (PSA) and related equipment services
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment and pneumatic systems
• Assists clients (field technicians and end-users) remotely (by phone) as and when they require assistance with maintenance related queries or breakdowns
• Maintain maintenance records and schedules and QMS documentation
• Maintain housekeeping standards within workshop and production
