Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd, Amanzimtoti-based steel manufacturer, seeks a Mechanical or Electrical Technician to join its new plant maintenance team. You will provide technical support, improve equipment reliability and help plan maintenance work.

The role requires 3-5 years in a maintenance technician position within heavy industry, and experience with CMMS (SAP PM preferred). A valid driver's licence and strong fault-finding skills are essential.

Qualifications

• National Diploma / BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or N6 with relevant trade experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a maintenance technician role in an industrial environment.
• Experience in steel, foundry or heavy industry is preferred.
• CMMS experience (e.g., SAP PM) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to maintenance teams on mechanical or electrical plant equipment.
• Diagnose complex equipment faults and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and update preventative maintenance schedules and task lists.
• Carry out condition monitoring such as vibration analysis, thermography or oil analysis.
• Lead root cause analysis on recurring failures and implement solutions.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance work, shutdowns and overhauls.
• Prepare technical specifications for spares, equipment and plant modifications.
• Update drawings, schematics and documentation.
• Capture and analyse maintenance data in the CMMS to track performance.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and projects.
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act and safety procedures.
• Be available for standby and call-outs as required.

Our client, an established steel manufacturing company based in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for a Mechanical or Electrical Technician to join its new plant maintenance team. Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a maintenance technician role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or a similar heavy industrial environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical fault-finding and analytical skills.
• Experience with CMMS software (e.g. SAP PM) is advantageous.
• Condition monitoring experience or certification is advantageous.
• Computer literate (MS Office; AutoCAD is advantageous).
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and safe working practices.
• Valid driver's licence, clear criminal record and ability to pass a medical assessment.
