About the Role Our client, a large-scale manufacturing facility, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Technician for their operations in Randburg, Gauteng . This is a critical on-site role focused on maintaining and repairing complex electrical systems and equipment within the manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industrial electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and power distribution systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of machinery, diagnosing electrical faults, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime. We are looking for a highly skilled, safety-conscious individual who can work effectively within a team and independently, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the plant. Your expertise will be vital in upholding the highest standards of electrical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics on manufacturing equipment and control systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including motors, control panels, VFDs, and power distribution units.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components according to schematics and technical specifications.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures related to electrical work.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and equipment malfunctions, working to restore operations quickly.
• Assist in the planning and execution of electrical system upgrades and modifications.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve electrical issues.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide on-the-job training where necessary.

Requirements

• Trade qualification as an Electrician (N3/S4 or equivalent) or relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, and power distribution.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults effectively.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and P&IDs.
• Experience with testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety principles and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
